"Ecological test paper": Chinese mermaid falls in love with Changde Yuanshui National Wetland Park

It mainly carries out wetland protection and restoration work within the jurisdiction of Taoyuan Yuanshui National Wetland Park.
Hunan Taoyuan Water National Wetland Park is located in the southeast of Taoyuan County, with geographical coordinates of 111 ° 2519 "E~111 ° 2851" E, 284735 "N~285124N, covering an area of 751.79 hectares, including 530.62 hectares of permanent river wetlands and 171.02 hectares of floodplain wetlands.
The project is implemented within a 751.79 hectare area of Yuanshui National Wetland Park, mainly based on four aspects: wetland conservation, wetland restoration, scientific research monitoring, and science popularization and education.
After the implementation of this project, not only will the ecological functions of the Yuanshui Wetland be comprehensively improved, the wetland ecosystem be continuously stabilized, wild animal and plant resources be effectively protected, and the wetland ecological resources be continuously utilized, but it will also significantly increase public awareness of natural conservation, enhance the visibility and reputation of the Yuanshui Wetland, and lay a good foundation for the development of ecological tourism in the Yuanshui Wetland, with strong ecological benefits Social benefits and potential economic benefits.
What "National Duck" is interested in:
The Taoyuan Submerged National Wetland Park features slow water flow, lush grass, and a thriving and bright environment. However, "gazing at the green mountains in the setting sun with clear water" is just an ordinary beauty here, and the most unique scenery here will last until winter
In the winter of 2008, this wetland recorded for the first time the Chinese mermaid. Since then, this water bird, known as the "national duck", has been wintering here for 13 consecutive years. It is not possible to retain the Chinese mermaid in places with rivers. They are different from the "ducks" themselves, with black and white feathers forming a scale like pattern of Chinese style, combined with graceful crown feathers and pointed vermilion lips, making them reminiscent of traditional Chinese painting. Their "vision" is also different from that of "ducks", extremely picky, and considered an important indicator species of wetland ecological environment.
After years of development, utilization, and restoration, the Taoyuan submerged wetland has formed an artificial and natural composite wetland ecosystem, preserving natural habitats and artificially reducing water potential. Under the clear water and clear waves, sand and gravel are stacked in a stepped manner to create a curved water flow channel, making it an excellent place for small aquatic organisms such as fish and shrimp to reproduce and relax. The transitional patterns of herbaceous communities, shrub communities, and tree communities on the intertidal beach, as well as the scientific combination of submerged plants, floating plants, emergent plants, and wet plants in the water, fully meet the diverse habitat requirements of migratory birds, wading birds, and prohibited birds.
This kind of environment is exactly what Chinese sandducks love. In previous monitoring, the Chinese sand ducks that wintered in the south were mostly small groups or sporadic individuals, and it was rare to see more than 10 individual records in the same area. However, in the submerged wetlands of Taoyuan, people have discovered a cluster of over 40 Chinese sand ducks. In the most abundant year, over a hundred Chinese sandducks have taken a liking to this precious land, which has made the Taoyuan submerged wetland meet the international important wetland standards.
In order to protect the habitat of Chinese sand ducks, Taoyuan Submerged National Wetland Park was established in Hunan in 2011. From then on, a "national style" atmosphere was added to the green mountains and clear waters.
