The Chinese Merganser is a national-level protected wildlife, with a scarce population, and is known as "the giant panda of birds". Since 2008, when the wintering population was first discovered in Xianyang Lake Wetland Park, this is the 14th year that this group of nature's "rare guests" have been welcomed.
In these years, in order to protect the wintering population of the Chinese sand duck, the management office of Xianyang Lake National Wetland Park has gradually increased its population monitoring and habitat protection efforts. In addition to carrying out publicity on the protection of the Chinese Merganser in the villages and towns around the habitat, it also actively establishes biodiversity conservation plots to create ecological homes suitable for the wintering of rare migratory birds such as the Chinese Merganser.
