Cenhuai National Wetland Park of Lizhou County in Hunan Province Passed the National Acceptance
Recently, National Forestry and Grassland Administration announced the results of the acceptance and review of the pilot construction of the National Wetland Park in 2018, and the Cenhuai National Wetland Park of Lizhou County in Hunan Province passed the acceptance and officially became a national wetland park.
In December 2013, approved by the State Forestry Administration, the Cenhuai National Wetland Park of Lizhou County in Hunan Province was permitted to carry out pilot construction of the national wetland park for a period of five years.
In the past five years, the County Party Committee and County Government of Lizhou County have strengthened the construction of management capacity of the park, and coordinated the promotion of wetland ecological protection and restoration, science popularization education, scientific research monitoring and co-construction with community in strict accordance with the principle of “comprehensive protection, scientific restoration, rational utilization, and sustainable development”. These projects have achieved remarkable results in the pilot construction work. The wetland resources of the park have been effectively protected, the ecosystem has been optimized, and the ecological functions have been further improved.
Cenhuai National Wetland Park of Lizhou County in Hunan Province is located in the northwest of the county, including Wangjiachang Reservoir, Shanmen Reservoir, part of the river channel shoal of the north and south tributaries of Censhui, the river channel connecting the Shanmen Reservoir and the north branch of Censhui and the surrounding mountainous areas, with a total area of 2778 hectares, of which 2406.7 hectares are wetland, accounting for 86.63% of the total area. Cenhuai National Wetland Park has a beautiful natural environment, unique wetland types, dense forest vegetation and rich biodiversity. It is an important ecological corridor for the Dongting Lake water system, which guarantees the ecological security of the wetland in the Dongting Lake area, especially in the protection of ecological security and socio-economic sustainable development of Lizhou County.
In the future, Cenhuai National Wetland Park of Lizhou County will continue to adhere to the concept of ecological priority, green development and harmonious development, strengthen the protection and restoration of wetlands, improve the ecological protection management mechanism, rationally construct, develop and utilize to build the wetland park into an ecological landscape, combining ecological protection, leisure tourism and science popularization education together to present an ecological beauty where people are in harmony with the rivers, lakes, green hills, which enables it to become a unique and distinctive national wetland around the Dongting Lake area.
